Isaac and Miranda originally booked us for their engagement session in Phoenix a few months ago (click here to see their blog post)! We filmed what we like to call a “love story” film during their engagement session along with photos of course. We instantly connected with them and they booked us for their wedding day in Lexington Park, Maryland!
Originally, we’d had a few out-of-state weddings booked for 2020, but because of the big “C” word, those weddings were postponed or canceled. This was our first out-of-state wedding we traveled for, and we were SO excited! It was enough to have such amazing clients that we get to document their wedding day for, but it is so much better when we get to travel to a new place to do it!
We started their wedding day at the hotel they were getting ready in. Miranda greeted us with the sweetest gift when we walked into where she was getting ready!! Isaac and Miranda had ordered custom water bottles with our logo laser engraved on the front! Like, HOW COOL IS THAT! It was so unexpected and so thoughtful, we were floored! (Thank you guys again!!)
After we documented the getting ready portion, we all traveled to Cove Point Beach to have their first look. The beach was such a cool spot for their first look. We did it at the end of a boardwalk with the vast views of the ocean behind them! There were people crab fishing below us, which I thought was super cool because, for us on the west coast, that’s not something you see every day.
Isaac and Miranda had some moments to themselves to have their first look and took it all in. You could tell they were nervous, but they were ready. Their hearts were ready. It’s like these two could just speak to each other with eyes, their body language, that’s how in sync they were. These two couldn’t be a more perfect match.
After some portraits at the beach, we made our way to their venue at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum (or PAX Museum for short) for their family photos. Since they already had their first look before the ceremony and their guest list was mostly family, we were able to get all of those finished before their ceremony. This made everyone feel super relaxed because there was no pressure to stay to a strict timeline and just really had the rest of the evening run super smoothly!
Their close friend officiated their ceremony, who really had a customized script to fit Isaac and Miranda. It was so sweet hearing them read their vows to each other. They also had a knot tying ceremony which we absolutely loved!! They held hands while their officiant wrapped ribbons around their hands and arm. At the end of their ceremony, they pulled their arms back while holding onto the ribbon and it had tied a knot in the ribbon! We thought this was so unique and super special!
After the ceremony, Isaac and Miranda enjoyed their cocktail hour, just the two of them, away in a private area. We especially loved this because it seems couples never have time alone after the ceremony! This gave them time to just take it all in, and enjoy their time together. They had the cutest charcuterie boxes and custom cocktails for their guests to enjoy! They were so yum!
Their whole wedding really fit their vibe as people. It was very relaxed, intimate, and showed their love for the desert. We loved their desert, cacti, and bohemian touches to their wedding decor. They even had photos from their engagement session in frames sprinkled around and we absolutely adored it!
We had their bridal portraits at sunset. We’re used to having a desert landscape for our portraits, so having actual planes and helicopters as our backdrop really made us ooh and ahh the whole time-lol! We had so much fun cracking jokes and just being in the moment with them.
Isaac and Miranda just exude so much love, grace, and kindness for each other and the people around them. We adore them as clients and as friends! Their wedding and this trip will forever be special to us.
Did you know we book destination weddings? We love being able to travel to capture your big day, but our calendar books up fast!
