Alabama natives Phillip and Brody wanted somewhere epic for their Sedona engagement photos and these views did not disappoint! While road-tripping through Arizona, they had found photos of a previous session I had done at Cathedral Rock. They knew they had to have their photos taken there! They kept saying how nervous they because they’ve never had photos taken before and they didn’t know how to pose. I reassured them that I would guide them through the whole session and would take care of them!

Cathedral Rock is definitely not the easiest of hikes (unless you’re a pro and hike often), but we made it to the top just in time for golden hour! The views alone are worth every drop of sweat and sore muscle it took to get there. I bring my pop-up changing tent to all my engagement sessions, so they were able to do change when we got to our photo spot. They started out their session in their stylish suits. I was just dying at how good their colored suits looked with the stunning red rock backdrop!

As we were taking photos, I asked if they had a music preference that they’d like to listen to. Brody told me to put on “Grow As We Go” by Ben Platt. I had them slow dance to this song and Brody began to cry. I took a step back and just let them have their moment while still snapping away. Phillip held him close and they swayed for a bit. It was such a sweet moment on the edge of that cliff, almost as if time had stood still – just for the two of them. As he wiped away tears, Brody told me that this is their song. They plan to have it as their first dance song on their wedding day! Seriously couldn’t have picked a sweeter song for these two.

After we had taken our photos at the top of the mountain, we stopped on our way down at another viewpoint to catch the sunset with stunning 180 degree views of Sedona. As if the top of the mountain wasn’t beautiful enough, this was just the cherry on top! Phillip and Brody had brought another casual outfit for this location. Throughout the session, Phillip would sneak kisses to Brody and Brody would look at him with so much love in his eyes. You can tell that these two share something so special and they are precious to each other! I felt so dang lucky to have been able to document this sweet time in their lives.
